Update on 12/7/15

Dear Team,

1) With all of the recent events in Paris and California, I just wanted to share this word from King's Castle:

"People need to pray and trust the Lord—wherever they go. In light of what just happened in San Bernardino, it can happen anywhere in the world—even in the USA.

But like we have always said, you are always safest in the Hand of God, wherever He guides and directs you.

We hosted 100 teams last year. More are booking this year. We will be praying for you that God will show you what you should do.

Blessings, Terri Triplett"

In the months to come, we will pray for safety, protection and wisdom heading into this journey. We know that God's Word says that we should not have a "spirit of fear but power, love, and a sound mind." Our first team in 1991 dealt with an unknown Gulf War and increased security at US venues, sporting events and airports. Let's pray for a great experience.

2) Holiday House is coming! I will speak to the students about conduct and talking points while they are working over the next couple of weeks:

- the students should do most of the talking, not adults

- tell them the dates, March 24-30 during your spring break

- going to San Salvador, El Salvador

- working with children and adults in the streets, churches, homes - cleaning, clothing distribution, food distribution, church services

- put your tech away and be respectful and relational. We are taking donations, checks payable to FMCS.

- work hard every night! Pray for God's favor with the people!...and great weather!

3. Any other fundraiser letter requests or Go Fund Me - there are people that would like to make a tax-deductible donation before January 1st, so make sure you are getting your information out there.

Community Service Opportunity

I just took a visit to the corner of Broadway and Winkler by Edison Mall. The old post office has become a high-end thrift shop for ministry! A friend of mine helped me meet with Carmeleta Norvell at the St. Mathew's House Thrift Store.

We have worked out a system if your eighth grader would like to go in some days after school and get community service hours. Students can help with clothes sorting, organizing and cleaning. If you are interested, please email Mr. Mitchell for the information.

So It Begins!

We now officially start the clock for 2016 El Salvador and the missions trip of a lifetime!
293 days from now we step on a bus and start an amazing journey!
I wanted to let you know for planning and budgeting purposes:

Dates of the trip: March 24-30, 2016
Cost: The airfare has gone up about $100 from this year, so the cost to "fundraise" for you is $1400 per person. I wanted to let you know so you can start to figure out how to raise the money. Some students last year used the site www.gofundme.com and raised their money. A few years ago, I had one parent send in $20 every two weeks once school started and paid the balance when the total was due - it did not seem as bad when he broke it down that way. It's up to you. A non-refundable deposit of $100 per person will be due when we get back to school.
Time will go fast - so pray and work on raising and saving money!
PARENTS: right now I am reserving several extra seats with American Airlines. If you think you are going or you are even considering it, let me know. We can always canel those in August. I want to make sure I initially set aside the correct number of seats.
Thank you
Mr. Mitchell

MIssionaries Report

The eighth graders went back to their elementary classrooms this morning to give a report on their trip. Each elementary classroom had prayed for them and today they had a chance to see how those prayers were answered. Acts 4:20 (NIV) - "As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

Ministry Day Three

Today we took one final trip to the mountain. In the morning we walked to a secluded area and people just seemed to be coming from different directions. It first looked like no one lived there. We had a good service with salvation prayers and healing. In the afternoon we broke into two groups and went from home to home praying for people and we tried to do chores for them. The students did everything from picking up trash, to washing dishes, sewing, grinding corn meal, hanging up laundry and chopping wood. Our students have really had the chance to see third world living conditions. The efforts people have to go to just for water is unbelievable. They have walked more than they have in some time.

Most of all, many of our kids will be in tears to leave the children of El Salvador they have become attached to these last few days.

Day Two of Ministry

We ventured back to the church where we were yesterday and then took a very crazy ride up the mountain for another service. These are some of the dedicated people you hear about that walk two hours just to go to church!

Palm Sunday

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” (John 12:13 NIV)

We are headed back up the mountain and even farther - "go into all the world."
